Leading a Competitiveness Agenda for Tennessee

Innovation. It’s the engine that drives economic growth and creates lasting wealth and value in the United States and around the world. In today’s increasingly competitive business environment, a coordinated effort is needed to connect scientists, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and corporate business leaders in an innovation network that fosters and sustains economic growth.

That’s exactly what the Tennessee Technology Development Corporation (TTDC) is doing. Working alongside our partners, TTDC is developing an actionable “competitiveness agenda” with statewide scope that will improve Tennessee’s competitiveness in the knowledge economy of the 21st century.

Tennessee’s stellar reputation as a business-friendly state is well known, as evidenced by the consistent stream of blue chip corporate relocations and expansions. Our state also has a wealth of extraordinary innovation-based companies and organizations that support them (see “Partners”). But more work is needed to harness the true power of the knowledge, leadership and financial capital that will encourage innovation and create high-paying jobs and wealth for the citizens of Tennessee.
